Collaborations are a cool thing in the beer business. And one of the coolest, lately, is the result of Delaware’s innovative Dogfish Head Craft Brewery getting together with Belgium’s historic Brouwerij Rodenbach to create Vibrant P’Ocean, “a blended sour ale.”

As it turns out, Vibrant P’Ocean is Rodenbach’s first-ever collaboration. And the story of the journey is a good one.

The “trans-oceanic potion” is combination of two base beers — one from Rodenbach, and the other from Dogfish Head. Rodenbach’s is a two-year, foeder-aged sour that was brewed in Belgium and shipped to Delaware, where it was blended with a Dogfish Head kettle sour brewed with a variety of grains and fruit.

Called Vibrant P’Ocean, this transatlantic collaboration from Delaware’s Dogfish Head and Belgium’s historic Brouwerij Rodenbach is a blend of an Old World two-year, foeder-aged sour with a New World kettle sour brewed with a pilsner malt, malted wheat, elderberry, elderflower, sliced lemons and Belgian fleur-de-sel.

True to its name, it’s a vibrant, ruby-red beer with a tart complexity not often found in ordinary kettle sours. Look for jammy and floral aromas and flavors, with pronounced lemon and berry notes, and a surprisingly dry finish.

Pair with 

Try Vibrant P’Ocean with fresh chèvre or fresh cow’s milk cheeses, cheese omelets, eggs Benedict, or crab or shrimp dishes.
